We at Rooterville have one major goal in mind, and that is to reduce animal suffering. But in order to reach this goal, we need your help:

The easiest thing that you can do to reduce animal suffering, not to mention help the environment and improve your health is this: Change your diet.

It's that simple. Factory farming is the biggest source of animal suffering on the planet, as well as one of the major contributors to environmental destruction and degradation. Why would you support an abusive system that, in the USA alone, raises 10 billion animals for slaughter every year, when you would never dream of hurting an animal yourself? It is a serious moral question that we all must address.

Don’t ever underestimate the good you can do by making simple choices every day to reduce suffering. It is estimated that by eating a plant based diet, you will spare the lives of 95 animals a year! Wow! This means that just one person can make a huge impact on the planet.

But what about your body, your own health? It is estimated that eating animal products is the number one cause of problems such as coronary artery disease, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, irritable bowel disorders, MS, and other chronic degenerative diseases.  The scientific evidence is clear: Changing your diet to a whole-food, plant-based diet will improve your health, and if you are already in poor health, your body can heal itself again.

It's so exciting! You don’t have to be sick! You don’t have to depend on doctors and drugs to feel great and be healthy. Besides, there is no such thing as a magic bullet when it comes to the pharmaceutical industry. Only changing your diet can change you from the inside out. Why not give it a try for 30 days and see for yourself?

Take it from us -- we at Rooterville know very personally the benefits of a whole-food, plant-strong diet. Director Elaine West suffered all her life with irritable bowel disease and arthritis, while co-director and partner Dale West suffered from the effects of heart disease and bowel disorders. After going vegan, all of their issues are now gone, and though it seems like a miracle, it really is just common sense. After all, if you put the wrong fuel in your car, would you be surprised if that vehicle didn’t perform properly? Why do we think we can keep stuffing our bodies with junk and expect to feel good and be disease free?

We are happy to support newcomers and make sure you have the resources available to find healthy, tasty recipes that are inexpensive and easy to make. Twice a year, we’ll do the 21 Day Vegan Kickstart, where we will meet once a week to learn about healthy eating, try delicious dishes, and encourage one another as we make the journey toward good health. Visit our sister website Life Reclaimed Ministries for more info.

You might also consider a Retreat at Rooterville for more personal and intensive support, as well as a transformative experience among the plants and animals at our beautiful sanctuary.

Of course, if you choose, you don’t need our help to change. Check out the PCRM website and other great resources to find recipes and information that will help transform your life.
